Our goal as breeders:
We strive to breed dogs as close in conformation and
temperament
to their breed standard as possible, combined with the stamina and soundness needed for
any sport available to the Schipperke or the Belgian Tervuren. We believe that every
litter should be bred with a goal in mind: first to be a good pet, having good
health and temperament; past that, to be a good show dog, having the characteristics to be
an accurate representative of the breed; and, finally, be of breeding quality, having as
few faults as possible, and consistent producer of quality puppies. We put a
strong importance not only on these things, but on the dog's intelligence and working
ability as well. We strongly believe that any dog not meeting these qualities should
be neutered or spayed, and require it of any dog we sell as a pet.
To help us attain our goal, we have studied both breeds
since first becoming involved with them. We have competed in conformation for
several years and finished several champions, and we also compete in obedience and
agility. We have studied genetics, health problems in the breed, nutrition, and
various training techniques. We have also studied many of the Schipperke and
Tervuren lines.
We are active in our local Schipperke club
(Southern Michigan Schipperke Club), members of SCA
(Schipperke Club of America), and the Four Seasons Belgians club. |
